Worker Training
Workers must be trained before they enter a confined space. The training must include
recognizing the hazards (Including potential hazards) in the confined
space, and
safe work practices, including the use of all equipment such as ventilation equipment, air monitors, and personal protective equipment.
It is strongly recommended that
the employer use an evaluation procedure (a test) to ensure that workers have acquired the knowledge necessary to safely perform their duties, and
inexperienced workers team up with experienced workers.
You must review the content of the training at least annually, and whenever there is a change in circumstances, such as a change in an industrial process. If the review indicates that the training was not adequate, you must provide additional training.
You must keep a record of the names of trainers, trainees, as well as the date of training. If the project’s joint health and safety committee or health and safety representative wants a copy of the record, you must provide one.
