- GHS Chemical Labels
GHS (Globalized Harmonized System) is a UN (United Nations) initiative to create a standardized system for labelling, symbols, and communication worldwide.
GHS is an international system that classifies the hazards of chemical products and communicates health and safety information on labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
GHS is designed to replace the various classification and labeling standards used in different countries by using consistent criteria for classification and labeling on a global level. This update to the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) will provide a common and coherent approach to classifying chemicals and communicating hazard information on labels and safety data sheets.
GHS does not replace WHMIS in Canada, the new Globalized Harmonized System ensures all countries are following this standardized system.
